About Ms. Evamarie
I grew up in a musical family in the Bay Area, California - My Mother and Brother are both pianists and organists, and my Dad, a singer - it was no surprise that I would also find myself with an instrument of my own! I had my first formal musical experience with the Suzuki Method, at age 5, and completed my formal musical training at the Boston Conservatory of Music in Violin Performance, in Boston, MA, USA. In my formative years, I developed my abilities as a member of the San Jose Symphony Youth Orchestra, El Camino Youth Orchestra, Teen Opera of the Bay Area (Yes, I also took Vocal Lessons!), Various Music Festivals in the USA, Amsterdam and Switzerland and, finally, years of daily practice - It is a developed habit! Although I received my degree in “Performance”, my purpose was to develop my skill on my instrument to the best of my ability, and in turn, to become a better teacher.
After my Conservatory graduation in the Spring of 2007, I returned to the Bay Area and continued to perform for various special events and orchestral and chamber groups. I knew I had a desire to share her musical experiences with others, so, I eventually started to teach violin full-time and took up the position of Co-Director at the San Jose Academy of Music in San Jose, California.
At SJAM, I developed a studio of 35 young violinists and pianists, pioneered an after-school string program for violin, cello, and harp in the local elementary school, and directed a school choir. This brings us closer to my other musical interest: Singing - Broadway and Classical tunes. With the strong belief that singing is an important, basic fundamental skill for young musicians, I incorporate singing into my teaching methods. I also have experience teaching private voice lessons and Children's Choirs in San Jose (2010 - 2013), California, Hong Kong (2014-2017), and Tokyo, Japan (2017-2018), with young musicians from ages 3 to 13 years of age, with repertoire from various styles: Jazz, Classical and Pop.
Lastly, I have enjoyed teaching the smallest musicians: ages newborn - age 4. The idea that the smallest human being can develop a keen sense to musical cues is amazing! I was introduced to this form of education during my time in Hong Kong where I had the opportunity to learn to teach music to very young babies and toddlers. Since then, I have brought my experiences together to successfully teach general music in various preschools.
With all the opportunities that I have gained through the years, my desire remains the same: to create a love and appreciation of music for every child.
This is the type of teacher that I seek to be: the type of music teacher who wants the student's best, who is willing to take time on the small things, and whose greatest joy is to see their student feel good and confident about themselves.
My mission is to provide the children in our community an excellent music education, taught in an an ENGAGING and NURTURING environment.
